Bududa
Vocational Institute Programs
Presently, BVI’s
primary program is training students to pass the Uganda National
Education Board (UNEB) certification exams in three
disciplines:
Bricklaying and Concrete Practice, Nursery Teacher Training, and Tailoring.
The Nursery Training has two classes for first year and second year
students. Additionally, BVI aims to have well rounded students and
offers courses
to all the students in math, science, English, computer training, health
and life skills.
Separate from the school, BVI also offers a short computer course for
members of the community. With the institute being one of the few places
in this village with electricity, and is the only place in the district
offering this class. Students learn basic computer skills including office
and typing.
In the
future we hope to expand the courses offered to include a carpentry
program and several, short, non-certificate courses.
These courses will
be shorter versions of the three disciplines we offer, plus bicycle
repair and electrical wiring.
